Subtopic 2 - Slide Preparation and Staining Techniques

After the blood sample has been obtained, the slide must be prepared and stained. The preparation of the blood smear is a critical component of an accurate differential. Avian cells tend to be rather fragile compared to those of mammals.  Care must be taken to avoid damaging these fragile cells.
