Individual Professional Development Plan for Faculty
This planning tool is designed to assist you in planning for your future professional development. It will guide you through a four-step process that will enable you to assess your current professional development needs, set goals for the future, estimate resources you need to accomplish those goals, and evaluate your progress. The tool is divided among five key areas of professional development and teaching:
1. Discipline-specific development - building knowledge and skills within your technical specialty or integrated academic discipline
2. Teaching and learning - addressing topics such as active learning techniques, effective questioning, assessment techniques, teaching strategies, classroom management, lesson preparation, grading, syllabus development, and recruitment and retention
3. Career/personal development - providing resources for effective personal planning to improve the quality of work and life
4. Technology in the Classroom - improving your ability to use technology tools to enhance face-to-face instruction
