Activity 1 Teaching Strategies

Web Design Principles

Suggested Teaching Strategies:

  • Level of difficulty: beginner
  • Students will need a printed copy of the procedure and a copy of the studentactivity1.htm file downloaded onto their computer.
  • Inexperienced students may need help with printing, or searching the Internet to complete the assessment activity.

Example of practice Web page for Student Activity 1:

The color scheme of studentactivity1.htm is not appropriate. Colors need to be contrasted so that the page is easy to view. The navigational elements are scattered throughout the page, and the colors of the buttons are not consistent. The content of the Web page is also scattered on the page. All content needs to be in the same place on every page of a Web site. Navigational buttons may be at the top, bottom, or left side of the Web page.

Time Commitment:
This activity will take up to one hour, depending upon the detail students add to their practice Web pages. Time consideration also depends upon printing and computer connection speed.

Materials:

  • Colored ink pen
  • Computer (Windows 98 or 2000) with Internet access
